Elizabeth Walton, 41, died in the crash on Thursday, June 13, the Township of Hamilton Police Department said in a news release. Officers responded to the intersection of Black Horse Pike and Hamilton Commons Drive at around 7:51 p.m.
Investigators said Walton was driving a 2006 Nissan Altima west on Black Horse Pike when she didn't stop at the intersection's red light. The Nissan crashed into a 2014 Kia Soul driven by an 18-year-old Mays Landing woman and then hit a traffic light pole.
Walton was pronounced dead at the scene. The Kia driver was brought to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, City Division, for her injuries.
The county sheriff and prosecutor's office helped in the investigation. Paramedics from Hamilton Township, Mays Landing, and Cologne also responded.
